New Retro from Sendai: ANTENA

Formed in Sendai City Miyagi Prefecture in 2011. They have currently released 5 mini albums and 5 singles, including venue-only editions.

In 2016 at the Tower Records Sendai Store 30th Anniversary they released a limited edition single "Otona ni nattemo", which quickly sold out. In the same year they crowdfunded their limited edition single "Nenjumukyu", meeting their goal by over 400%.

In January 2017, they returned to their origins with the sale of their 4th mini album "Tengoku nante zenbu uso sa" and their nationwide tour, which included Tokyo, Osaka and Sendai, later appearing that year in ARABAKI ROCK FEST.17 for the second time.

In October 2018, the group's 1st major mini album "Moongarter" was released with BOGUS RECORDS.

The title song from the album was on power play on 25 radio stations across the country and was chosen as the ending theme of TX's "Premia MelodiX!" for November. In addition, "Shinkai Omajinai" from the same album was used as the opening theme of NHK Radio's "Music Line" for October to November, garnering so much attention it won the "2018 10th Annual CD Shop Award". From January 2018, the band appeared on Hokkaido AIR-G's "FM ROCK KIDS" for a season, as well as Date FM's "SOUND GENIC".

Vocalist Watanabe croons on the the subleties of the human condition, wielding his voice like a weapon as it dances along the border between his natural tone and a falsetto, riding the wave of the traditional Japanese melody line to its arrival at the western sound. ANTENA's music encapsulates a Japanese musical background with ever-evolving western tastes to form a "New Retro" sound.

The band took a break from playing in April 2018, also facilitating a rest for vocalist Watanabe. Even before the break, their new life support song "Zutto Baby" had been recorded and was released as a digital single on June 20, reaching their first No. 1 on the Viral Top 50 of Spotify's (Japan) music charts (maintained for 2 days). On November 14th of the same year, the band got back together to drop their digital single "Fukai Fukai Ao". On January 19th of 2019, they held their first live event "Nu plats" after getting back together at TSUTAYA O-nest (Shibuya). On January 23rd, their 2nd mini album "Fukai Fukai Ao" was released.
